A celebration of the 50th anniversary of the beloved mini will feature prominently at this year’s Scottish Transport Extravaganza which takes place in the grounds of Glamis Castle on Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12.
The 35th extravaganza organised by the Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club Limited is once again shaping up to be one to remember with over 1,000 vehicle entries expected over the two-day event.
The extravaganza is regarded as the premier vintage motoring event in Scotland, and one of the largest of its kind in Britain.
As well as the vehicle entries representing a wide variety of transports, the event also attracts 150 stands comprising autojumble, motor trade, antiques, fund-raising and a craft tent where you can see craft persons making their own goods.
The SVVC is well-known for attracting a first class main attraction to the extravaganza, and this year is no exception.
They are delighted the Mega Mini Stunt Show will entertain the crowds in conjunction with this year’s 50th anniversary of the mini.
Furthermore, the Caledonian Mini Club hopes to bring around 100 minis of various ages which will be real attraction for all mini fans.
A spokesperson for the extravaganza said: “We appreciate that coming to an event such as ours can give you a good appetite and there are plenty of good quality caterers willing to provide much needed nourishment, whether it be a snack, a full meal or just a cool ice cream. “We are very fortunate to be able to hold the Extravaganza in the beautiful grounds of Glamis Castle.
“The castle provides a magnificent backdrop to our event and we can recommend
the 35th Scottish Transport Extravaganza as a splendid day out for all the family.”
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12 and parking for motorists is free.
Entrance fees for Saturday are £7 for adults, £5 for children and OAPs and on Sunday they are £9 for adults and £6 for children and OAPs.
